Adopted the Law on the National Spatial Data Infrastructure

On the 8th session of the Croatian Parliament on 26.april 2013. the Law on the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (103 votes "for") is unanimously adopted.

EuroGeographics - General Assembly 2012

On 5^th and 6^th of June 2012 the first regional training of the INSPIRATION project  „Spatial data infrastructure in the Western Balkans countries“ was organized under the 5th regional conference on cadastre and spatial data infrastructure in Laktasi, Banja Luka, Serbian Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

GSDI 13

The 13th Global Spatial data Infrastructure conference on the topic: Spatially Enabling Governmant, Industry and Citizens was held in Québec City, Canada in the period from 14 th to 17th May 2012. 

ZG GeoPortal presented

ZG Geoportal  was presented on 10th of May 2012 in areas of the City Administration at a press conference. Geoportal was presented by the holders of the project: City of Zagreb, City Office for Strategic Planning and City Development and APIS IT. 

GIO Emergency Management Service

The new GMES Emergency Management Service (GIO EMS) was launched in April. The GIO EMS mapping service provides digital map information derived from satellite imaging sensor data combined with national in-situ reference data and other data to support geospatial analysis and decision making processes of emergency managers.

Adoption of Implementing Rules for network services on a national spatial data infrastructure

The Croatian Government on the open part of the 21st session adopted the Implementing Rules for network services on a national spatial data infrastructure.

Dissolution of old and nomination of new members of the NSDI Council

Croatian Government, on the closed part of 17th session, discussed personnel matters. Former members of the NSDI Council are relieved of duty and new members are appointed.

On 15th and 16th February 2012 EuroGeographics Policy Exchange Network (PoIKEN) meeting with simultaneous webinar was held. The idea of PoiKEN is to exchange knowledge and information about the development of european and world politics. 

ELF Task Force Meeting / Coordinating Committee, Brussels, 10th February 2012

European Location Framework (ELF) is EuroGeographics program initiative. ELF's mission is to build infrastructure for reference set of geospatial data that will contain an interoperable set of reference data and services, and will be constructed on the basis of information of national state geodetic administrations and will allow users to build further products and services on it.

Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)

State Geodetic Administration (SGA) became an associate member of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) (http://www.opengeospatial.org) since 1st January 2012. 

Croatian NSDI Metadata Specification

Director of the State Geodetic Administration, prof. dr. sc. Željko Bačić has made a decision to put the Metadata Specification of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) into the official use. 

Regional RENA workshop Transposition and implementation of the INSPIRE directive

A regional workshop on transfer and implementation of the INSPIRE directive was held from 17th to 18th January, Vienna, Austria, within the project  Regional Environmental Network for Accession (RENA) . The workshop was attended by 33 participants from the region. 

Spatial Information System of the City Novska

Mayor of the City Novska, Mr. Antun Vidaković and representatives of the company Geofoto from Maribor, which created the Web application, on 15th December 2011 introduced new spatial information system of the City Novska. City Novska a number of years works on the development of GIS and spatial information system and belongs to a group of few cities that have been published spatial information system via the web. 

The European Commission presents its "Open Data Strategy for Europe"

The European Commission on 12th December 2011 presented a strategy for open access of the public sector data. As a result of this strategy at EU level it is expected a 40 billion € profit each year. 

6th session of the NSDI Council held

On 29th November 2011 NSDI Council held its sixth session. Together with a full report on the current work of the working group in 2011 and the third Croatian NSDI and INSPIRE Day, the Council adopted the information on the activities on the transmission of the INSPIRE Directive into Croatian legislation. More important agenda items were related to the adoption of the proposal of the national metadata profile and the draft Implementing Rules for network services. The Council was informed about the results of the public discussion of the Agreement on the exchange, access and share of spatial data.

 Information on the SDI at the national level are incorporated through the web site accessible at the following address http://ggim.un.org/sdi.html as part of the United Nations initiative dedicated to the global management of spatial data. 

7th session of NSDI Committee held

On 28th October 2011 NSDI Committee held 7 th session. The main topics were: Development of the new NSDI Law, the national profile of metadata, the Implementing Rules for network services and analysis of comments received on the Agreement on the exchange, access to and use of spatial data. One of the major conclusions of the Committee is forming a working group within SGA to create the initial draft of the NSDI Law. 

First high Level Forum on United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management

First high Level United Nations forum on the management of global geospatial information was held in Seoul in the period 24-26 October 2011. The event was attended by 350 participants from 90 countries, 22 representatives of the United Nations and 37 representatives of international organizations and companies.  

119th EuroSDR meeting

University of Udine (Italy) from 26th to 28th October 2011 hosted the 119th regular EuroSDR meeting.

EuroGeographics General Assembly

General Assembly of EuroGeographics, the European association of national institutions responsible for topographic, cadastral and land registry information was organized in Belfast from 16th to 19th October 2011 by national institutions in charge of mapping and land administration in Northern Ireland (Land & Property Services). EuroGeographics currently consists of 56 institutions coming from 44 European countries.
