The GSDI 15 World Conference

The Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association was formed in 2004 as an inclusive networking organization of academic and research institutions, government agencies, commercial geomatics firms, national and regional GI associations and individuals from around the world. The purpose of the Association is to promote international cooperation and collaboration in support of local, national and international spatial data infrastructure (SDI) research and implementations that will allow nations to better address social, economic, and environmental issues of pressing importance, including sustainable development.

Since 1996, the Association has conducted GSDI World Conferences, offering significant networking opportunities and offering the opportunity for SDI researchers and SDI implementors to present their latest work, challenges and solutions.
GSDI 15 conference is being held in Taiwan from 28 November to 2 December 2016, under the theme “Spatial Enablement in the Smart Homeland” and it provides an ideal opportunity to showcase your SDI developments to an international audience and to learn from others experiences. A number of contributions from member organisations, including Ordnance Survey, Kadaster and NLS Finland, have already been accepted for presentation, but GSDI, of which EuroGeographics is a founding member, would welcome more.

During the conference keynote speakers Mark Reichardt, President of the Open Geospatial Consortium, Barbara Ryan, Secretariat Director of the Intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations, Ed Parsons, the Geospatial Technologist of Google, and Greg Scott, the Inter-Regional Advisor on Global Geospatial Information Management in the United Nations Statistics Division will deliver thought-provoking talks on the status, trends, and future of spatial data infrastructure.

You and your colleagues are invited and encouraged to present and discuss your SDI projects and programmes, learn from industry specialists and broaden your professional network. GSDI 15 offers numerous opportunities for oral presentations of abstracts and papers.
To increase the opportunity for more contributions from the European NMCAs, and others, the period for submitting abstracts has been extended for a further month. Workshop proposals and poster presentations are also welcomed.
The deadline for Abstracts is 1 June 2016.
