SDI Days 2017

The ninth conference dedicated to Spatial Data Infrastructures, SDI Days 2017 was held on November 30 and December 1 at the Faculty of Geodesy University of Zagreb. The conference was jointly organized by the State Geodetic Administration and the Faculty of Geodesy. This year's conference was attended by more than 200 participants from the public, private and academic sector. The SDI Days 2017 included a workshop, held on the first day, devoted to the NSDI subjects and the 9th NSDI and INSPIRE Day held on December 1 in the grand hall of the Faculty of Geodesy.
 
The picture shows the grand hall of the Faculty of Geodesy, which was attended by more than 200 participants from the public, private and academic sectors during the invited lecture by V. Cetl.
 
During the opening of the workshop, NSDI subjects were welcomed by the deputy director of the State Geodetic Administration Mr Antun Vidaković. More than 40 representatives of NSDI subjects attended the workshop. The aim of the workshop was to support the NSDI subjects in meeting their obligations. Basic knowledge of interoperability, spatial data harmonization, network services and new validation tools were presented.
 
The second day 9th NSDI and INSPIRE Day was held, where the participants were welcomed by the Head of the Sector for Spatial Data Infrastructure of the State Geodetic Administration, Ljerka Marić, M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Geodesy, Damir Medak, PhD, President of the NSDI Council, Milan Rezo, PhD, Director of the State Geodetic Administration, Damir Šantek, PhD, and the conference was opened by Mrs Dunja Magaš, State Secretary at the Ministry of Construction and Physical Planning.
 
The opening atmosphere of the conference was completed with the performance of young talents from the music school "Elly Bašić".
 
At the beginning of the conference, we had the opportunity to listen to the keynote speaker Vlado Cetl, PhD, from the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, who presented an overview of the current status and future activities of INSPIRE.

In the continuation of the conference, a forum on the NSDI Strategy and its implementation was held and moderated by Tomislav Ciceli, M.Sc., Head of the NSDI Sector at the State Geodetic Administration. The participants of the forum were: Damir Šantek, PhD, Director of the State Geodetic Administration, Vlado Cetl, PhD, Joint Research Center, Milan Rezo, PhD, President of the NIPP Council, Branimir Pavlinec, Croatian Agency for Environment and Nature, Željko Bačić, PhD, Faculty of Geodesy and Plamenko Barišić, CEO of King ICT. During the forum, participants discussed the strategic and operational goals defined by the NSDI Strategy and the Strategic Plan.
In the following, 10 presentations were held through two sessions covering various topics related to NSDI; the legal status of the NSDI, the achievements of individual subjects and projects and the application solutions of the private sector.
