The Croatian Parliament adopted the Act on Amendments to the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Act

At its 16th session, held on 17 April 2020, the Croatian Parliament adopted the Act on Amendments to the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Act in second reading with 107 votes in favor and 11 abstentions. During the debate in the Croatian Parliament, spatial data were recognized as extremely important for the economic progress of society, as well as for monitoring changes occurring in the environment. Also, it was pointed out that the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) is one of the most important systems for the development of the Republic of Croatia.
 
On April 9, 2020, the Government of Republic of Croatia submitted to the Croatian Parliament the Final Act on Amendments to the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Act according to which the Committee on Physical Planning and Construction of the Croatian Parliament, as the working body, on its 37th electronic session held on April 15, 2020, discussed the act and unanimously, with 12 votes in favor, decided to propose to the Croatian Parliament the adoption of the Act on Amendments to the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Act.
 
The final draft of the Act aligns the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Act with the INSPIRE Directive, as amended with entry into force Regulation (EU) 2019/1010 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 June 2019 on the alignment of reporting obligations in the field of legislation related to the environment and amending Regulations (EC) No 166/2006 and (EU) No 995/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council, Directives 2002/49/EC, 2004/35/EC, 2007/2/EC, 2009/147/EC and 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, Council Regulations (EC) No 338/97 and (EC) No 2173/2005, and Council Directive 86/278/EEC.
 
Also, the composition of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Council is changing to achieve more efficient work of the Council, as well as the responsibilities of the National Contact Point regarding reporting of Member States to the European Commission, and the Act is harmonized with the State Information Infrastructure Act regarding data exchange between NSDI subjects.
