2nd meeting of the Working Group for High-Value Datasets in the NSDI held

On July 14, 2026, the second meeting of the Working Group for High-Value Datasets within the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) was held. The meeting was held online via the Microsoft Teams platform and was attended by representatives of the NSDI National Contact Point, the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, and the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia.



During the meeting, the current status of the INSPIRE Directive revision was presented, along with the expected directions of changes. These include the simplification of data harmonisation, a stronger emphasis on the use of APIs while retaining metadata, and obligations regarding the reporting and publication of datasets.

The members of the Working Group were also presented with the results of the analysis of potential high-value datasets that have already been registered within the NSDI. The analysis covered their availability through the NSDI Geoportal and the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Croatia, as well as the methods by which these datasets are made available through the European Data Portal.



It was concluded that the NSDI Geoportal provides a good foundation for registering spatial high-value datasets, but further alignment of metadata, dataset categorisation methods, and the integration of the involved systems is required.

The Working Group also continued its work on the document "High-Value Datasets in the NSDI", which will provide normative, technical and methodological recommendations for the registration of high-value datasets. The completion of this document is planned by the end of 2026.
