The Council of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, as the body of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) in accordance with point III of the Decision on the adaption of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure 2020 Strategy and the Strategic Plan of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure for the period 2017-2020 (OG 96/17), submitted to the Government of the Republic of Croatia a Report on the implementation of measures and activities from the National Spatial Data Infrastructure 2020 Strategy (Strategy) and the Strategic Plan of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure for the period 2017-2020 (Strategic Plan).

The holder of the measures of the Strategy was the State Geodetic Administration, and the co-holders of the certain activities from the Strategic Plan were NSDI subjects (public authorities that create spatial data within the scope of their activities) and NSDI bodies.

The main objective of the Strategy was to provide guidance on the establishment of the NSDI, with particular reference on the implementation of Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 March 2007 establishing an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in European Community (INSPIRE) (OJ L 108/1, 25.4.2007) (INSPIRE Directive), and the Strategic Plan set out the operational objectives to be achieved in a given period as well as indicators for assessing progress in the development of the NSDI.

The adopted Report provides an overview of the implemented activities according to the strategic goals and the achieved values of the indicators. It should be noted that great progress has been made in the discovery and availability of spatial data, and given the ultimate goal of the NSDI (to make spatial data of all public authorities in the Republic of Croatia available for use through network services), further investments and activities are needed to develop network services, thus enabling their wide application. Also, special attention should be given to the part of the spatial data that the European Commission has identified as high priority, and that is the data determined by the environmental directives.
