Report on Activities for the establishment, maintenance and development of the NSDI for 2020 adopted

At its 69th session held on July 16, 2021, the Government of the Republic of Croatia has adopted a Conclusion accepting the Report on Activities for the establishment, maintenance and development of the NSDI for 2020.

In order to fulfill its obligations under the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Act (OG 56/13, 52/18, 50/20), the State Geodetic Administration prepared a draft Report for 2020 and sent it to the NSDI Council for adoption. At its session held on 31 May 2021, the NSDI Council unanimously adopted this annual Report, and then submitted it to the Government of the Republic of Croatia for approval.

The report provides a summary of activities in all areas, in particular those related to the legislative, institutional and technical framework and also to capacity building and awareness raising on the NSDI in 2020. Special emphasis was placed on the implementation of the projects "Capacity Building for the establishment of the NSDI" and "Increasing the availability of NSDI spatial data through e-services" which aimed to increase the number of NSDI subjects through the inclusion of local and regional self-government units in the NSDI and increasing the availability of spatial data of public authorities through the development of network services, which remains the weakest point in the development of the NSDI of the Republic of Croatia.

The State Geodetic Administration, as the National Contact Point for the NSDI in the implementation of INSPIRE, is continuously working on the activities of establishing the NSDI and the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive in the Republic of Croatia. To this end, an increase in the number of subjects and available sources was achieved in 2020, but further efforts of all NSDI subjects are needed in order to raise the level of availability and interoperability of spatial data. This can be achieved through the development of network services and by meeting the requirements prescribed by the INSPIRE Directive. In the Report, the strengthening of the development of network services and the inclusion of new subjects and sources from the regional and local level in the NSDI, indicates the focus of the establishment of the NSDI in the coming period.
