Capacity building for the establishment of NSDI

The State Geodetic Administration (SGA) is a beneficiary of grants from Priority Axis 4 – “Good Governance” of Specific Objectives 11 and 1. “Increasing efficiency and capacity in public administration through improving service delivery and human resources management” of the Operational Program “Effective Human Resources 2014 and 2020” which co-finance the project “Capacity building for the establishment of National Spatial Data Infrastructure” from the European Social Fund.

The main goal of the project “Capacity building for establishment of National Spatial Data Infrastructure” is to strengthen the capacity of the State Geodetic Administration at the level of the National Contact Point and local promoters and to raise the level of knowledge about NSDI at local, regional and national level.

Current awareness-raising activities on spatial data infrastructures, which are being carried out at the national level, are insufficient and special attention is needed to reach the regional and local level in order to be involved in the establishment and implementation of the NSDI. According to the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Act (OG 56/2013, 52/2018, 50/2020), NSDI subjects are public authorities that have establishment or maintenance of spatial data within their scope. NSDI subject are obliged to make their spatial data and services available within the NSDI. Precisely with the aim of increasing the number of NSDI subjects from regional and local level, as part of the project activities, SGA will educate its employees working on NSDI affairs and employees of local and regional self-government units by holding 6 workshops and 2 conferences. The project will also strengthen the capacity of the National Contact Point (SGA) in areas currently identified as insufficient, related to licensing, spatial data conditions and methods of charging for network services, which are part of the NSDI under the NSDI Act.
