Guidelines for filling the NSDI Registers published

In order to facilitate the inclusion of subjects in the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI), the State Geodetic Administration has prepared Guidelines for filling the NSDI Registers. The guidelines provide a concise overview of all elements in order to properly submit the necessary data to the State Geodetic Administration. The first part explains the data required for the registration of subjects in the Register of NSDI subjects, followed by instructions for the registration of spatial data sources in the Register of NSDI Spatial Data Sources. Each element is accompanied by an explanation to assist the completion. The Guidelines also contain “Frequently Asked Questions” where the questions that appear when registering in to the Registers are explained in a simple way. The Guidelines are designed to help subjects to prepare necessary data and in the process of inclusion in the NSDI.

The process of including subjects in the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.

The process of including subjects in the NSDI is happening in accordance with the diagram shown. Thus, the NSDI Act defines who and how becomes a NSDI subject, and the same Act establishes the Register of NSDI Subjects and the Register of NSDI Spatial Data Sources. The Register of NSDI Subjects gathers basic information about the subject as well as reported sources. The Register of NSDI Spatial Data Sources is a list of reported sources, with general information about them. The sources are described in more detail in the NSDI Metadata Catalog, which is an integral part of the NSDI Geoportal.

In addition to the Guidelines for filling in the Registers, the forms of the Registers the subjects fill in have been updated and then they submit them to the State Geodetic Administration. The form for the Register of NSDI Subjects is available at the link form Register of Subjects, and the form for the Register of NSDI Spatial Data Sources is available at the link form Register of Spatial Data Sources. On the NSDI website access to the Guidelines and forms can be found in the NSDI Documents category.
