22nd and 23rd NSDI workshops held

On 10 and 11 February, the 22nd and 23rd NSDI workshops were held as the last from the first cycle of workshops under the common title "Inclusion of local and regional self-government units in the National Spatial Data Infrastructure". The workshops were organized by the State Geodetic Administration through the virtual platform Microsoft Teams, as part of the implementation of the project "Capacity Building for the establishment of the NSDI", which is co-financed by the European Social Fund.

The workshops were opened by Damir Šantek, PhD, Director General of the State Geodetic Administration, who on that occasion pointed out recent events, especially in the Sisak-Moslavina County, which clearly showed the need for timely, up-to-date and accurate spatial information. Those present were also greeted by Ljerka Marić, MSc, Head of the Spatial Data Infrastructure Sector, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between local and regional self-government units as NSDI subjects and the State Geodetic Administration as the National Contact Point for NSDI.

The introductory lecture was given by Tomislav Ciceli, MSc, followed by four lectures given by Tanja Rodin, MSc, and Iva Gašparović, PhD. The aim of these lectures was to get acquainted with the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, its purpose, advantages, but also with the obligations defined in the NSDI Act (OG 56/13, 52/18, 50/20).

An integral part of the workshops was the interaction with the participants, realized through a short questionnaire, which was focused on the sources of spatial data in the jurisdiction of local and regional self-government units, as well as on understanding the basics of NSDI.

According to the answers received, a large number of representatives of local and regional self-government units have not met with the NSDI so far, which confirmed the need for the implementation of this project and raising the level of knowledge about the NSDI at the local, regional and national level.

The State Geodetic Administration plans to hold additional workshops within the implementation of this project for those who could not participate in the first cycle of the workshops, but also new workshops that will be focused on practical work.
