On March 16 and 18, the 27th and 28th NSDI workshops were held as the last from the second cycle of workshops under the common title "Inclusion of local and regional self-government units in the NSDI". The workshops were organized by the State Geodetic Administration within the implementation of the project "Capacity building for the establishment of the NSDI", which is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
The 27th NSDI workshop was opened by Antonio Šustić, deputy director general of the SGA, while the 28th NSDI workshop was opened by Damir Šantek, PhD, director general of SGA. In total, more than a hundred participants from Bjelovar-Bilogora, Varaždin, Split-Dalmatia, Požega-Slavonia, Vukovar-Srijem, Virovitica-Podravina, Karlovac, Zagreb, Osijek-Baranja, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Zadar, Šibenik-Knin and Sisak-Moslavina County, and the City of Zagreb, together with SGA employees participated.
The second cycle of workshops was intended primarily for the representatives of local and regional self-government units, so that they could get acquainted with the NSDI and with activities arising from the role of the NSDI subject. Through a series of lectures given by Tomislav Ciceli, MsC, Tanja Rodin, MsC, and Iva Gašparović, PhD, the advantages and benefits of the establishment and development of the NSDI were explained, as well as the obligations that the NSDI subjects are obliged to fulfill according to the NSDI Act. The basic available NSDI tools and products were presented, such as the NSDI Registers and the NSDI Geoportal, but also the GeoHrvatska browser, which is the result of the use of interoperable services, and is especially intended for citizens.
Each workshop also included an interaction with participants, ie a short questionnaire, the purpose of which was to obtain feedback from participants on knowledge of the NSDI and its products. The obtained answers showed that a large number of participants have not met with the NSDI so far, which confirmed the need to implement the project "Capacity building for the establishment of the NSDI".
The State Geodetic Administration is currently preparing a third cycle of workshops that will contain additional thematic workshops for NSDI subjects, aimed at practical work with metadata of spatial data sources within the jurisdiction of NSDI subjects, that is, their entry in the Catalog of Metadata on the NSDI Geoportal.
