The Government of the Republic of Croatia accepted the Report on activities on the establishment, maintenance and development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) for 2021

In order to fulfill its obligations under the National Spatial Data Infrastructure Act (OG 56/13, 52/18 and 50/20), the State Geodetic Administration prepared a draft Report for 2021 and sent it to the NSDI Council for adoption, and then for acceptance by the Government of the Republic of Croatia. The report was adopted at the 112th session of the Government, held on April 8, 2022. The Government of the Republic of Croatia has adopted a Conclusion accepting the Report on activities on the establishment, maintenance and development of the NSDI for 2021.

Access to the details of the news on the acceptance of the Report for 2021

The report provides a summary of activities in all areas, in particular those related to the legislative, institutional and technical framework and to capacity building and awareness raising on the NSDI in 2021. During that year, two projects financed from European funds were completed, the number of new entities actively involved in presenting their data through the NSDI Geoportal increased by 64% while the number of new sources available for search increased by 72%. Activities on the GeoCroatia browser also continued. During 2021, a large number of activities were carried out on raising awareness as well as the promotion of the NSDI through workshops, conferences and the printing of educational materials. The level of interoperability increased markedly during 2021, as many as 65% of new network services on the NSDI Geoportal.

Notwithstanding the above, the Republic of Croatia should continue to take action to increase the number of interoperable available spatial data, which requires serious involvement of the National Contact Point, and mostly the involvement of NSDI entities obliged to develop interoperable network spatial data services. In addition to the mentioned activity of increasing interoperable available spatial data in the forthcoming period, an additional challenge will be the inclusion of local and regional (regional) administration units in the NSDI and encouraging stronger involvement of already registered state and public administration bodies in establishing new and improving existing sources.
