Bilateral meeting of National contact point an JRC

At the end of May 2022 representatives of the National Contact Point for INSPIRE had a virtual environment meeting with representatives of the JRC to discuss open issues in the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive.

The main topics of the meeting were related to the representation of data sets, their availability for download on the Inspire Geoportal, as well as the results of the annual Monitoring report. Special emphasis is placed on the representation of services that have some kind of authorization or access protection and their visibility on the Inspire Geoportal.

Such protected services are not displayed on the Inspire Geoportal and do not earn points on annual monitoring because the purpose of the geoportal itself is to provide simple and easy access to publicly available data. It should be emphasized that the position of the JRC and the EC is that the Member States may restrict access to the network services only in accordance with Article 13 of the Directive. In all other cases JRC and the EC promote open access to services and data without any protection (password or token), which is also in line with the Open Data Directive.
