The 14th Conference dedicated to spatial data infrastructures, SDI Days 2024, was held on 27-28 May 2024, organized by the State Geodetic Administration. This year's conference was attended by more than 130 participants from the public, private and academic sectors. The SDI Days 2024 consisted of a workshop dedicated to NSDI subjects that was held on the first day, while the 14th NSDI and INSPIRE Day was held on the second day.
On the first day of the conference, in the premises of the Central Office of the State Geodetic Administration, a workshop dedicated to NSDI subjects was held, which was attended by more than 40 participants. During the opening of the workshop, the participants were welcomed by the General Director of the State Geodetic Administration, Antonio Šustić. The participants got an insight into the current state of NSDI, the basic products of NSDI, as well as the activities carried out by National Contact Point to improve the quality of metadata and improve the linkage of spatial data sets and network services.
The second day of the conference, on May 28, 2024, the 14th NSDI and INSPIRE day was held in the Judita hall of the National and University Library in Zagreb. The conference was officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Spatial Planning and State Property, Mr. Branko Bačić. In his welcoming speech, he briefly reminded the attendees of the path that the National Spatial Data Infrastructure went through from 2007 until today and emphasized the importance of NSDI and all activities carried out to make spatial data available and understandable to all users. The Deputy Prime Minister also outlined important projects implemented by the Ministry on the digitalization of building documents and the process of transforming spatial plans of the new generation , which contribute to a better use of spatial data by public authorities, entrepreneurs and citizens.
The attendees were also welcomed by the Director General of the State Geodetic Administration, Antonio Šustić, who pointed out the great success in the increase in the number of subjects from the local level at the Geoportal of the NSDI, so that today we register a total of 119 active subjects of the NSDI, while the number of spatial data sources on the Geoportal NSDI exceeded 1000, exactly 1032 sources, of which 497 are network services. The Director General also stated the most challenging activities that will result in an increase in the quality of spatial data and ensure their availability to citizens, entrepreneurs and institutions, which are implemented by the State Geodetic Administration.
After the welcoming speeches, the head of the Spatial Data Infrastructure Sector, Ljerka Marić, MsC, and senior advisor - specialist Iva Gašparović, PhD, held an introductory presentation titled " NSDI in Croatia - where are we in 2024.?"

In the first lecture session, colleagues from countries in our neighborhood presented the state of establishment and development of NSDI in their institutions and countries.
The conference was followed by a panel discussion entitled “The influence of new trends in the field of data on the development of NSDI”, moderated by Tomislav Ciceli, MsC, head of the NSDI Division. The participants of the round table were: Lidija Suman, Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, Jarmila Pezo, The President of the Board of IGEA Ltd, prof. PhD Željko Bačić, University of Zagreb - Faculty of Geodesy, prof. PhD Vlado Cetl, Department of Geodesy and Geomatics of the University Sjever and Antonio Šustić, General Director of the State Geodetic Administration.
The second part of the conference was followed by two sessions containing interesting lectures in the field of NSDI and spatial data. The lectures covered topics such as: the development of the geoportal of Cultural Property and the Spatial Planning Information System, the establishment of the National Information System for land in the Republic of Croatia, the creation of a map of Coastal and Benthic Marine Habitats, development of capacities at universities, development of artificial intelligence over spatial data, use of open data and implementation of WebGIS browsers as well as big data processing methods.
After the conference, the participants expressed satisfaction with the conference and expressed their wish to hold future events with the theme of spatial data infrastructure development.
We would like to thank all lecturers and participants who have helped this year's SDI Days to be interesting, useful and educational.
