Released Web portal of Nature Protection Information System – Bioportal

On the occasion of the European Natura 2000 day and the eve of the International Day of Biological Diversity and Day of Nature Protection in Croatia, 21.05.2015. Bioportal was launched - a unique database on Biodiversity and Nature Protection in Croatia.

State Institute for Nature Protection was working on the development of the portal, and financed by the Ministry of Environment and Nature Protection through 'Integration Project EU Natura 2000'.

The portal is a central place where everyone can access the Information system of Nature Protection and all its solutions (services, applications, web pages, etc.), and its main "trump" is the viewer of spatial data and interactive web map that can be viewed, analyzed and search all spatial data NPIS's (habitats, species, protected areas, ecological networks, etc.).

The goal of establishing a public Web portal of Nature Protection Information System is to enable to scientific expert and wider public access, review and analysis of updated and verified data on biodiversity and nature conservation in Croatia, while respecting the principles and guidelines of the EU INSPIRE Directive and the national legislation (Law on the National Infrastructure of Spatial data, the Law on Freedom of Information).

The portal is publicly accessible and free, and you can access it through the web address www.bioportal.hr/.
